Bill Guffey       American Artist

My goal as an artist is to bring unification to my eye, hand and the medium I’m using at the moment. The most important thing to me when I'm starting a painting is putting down the impression of what I have intended, and letting the technique be a result rather than a conscious element.

I paint on various surfaces including wood panels, archival canvas covered boards, and stretched canvas and linen. My normal method of paint application varies from brushes to painting knives depending on the subject and the result desired. My palette usually consists of a limited range of colors. My paintings tend to have an emphasis on value, composition and light.

Each painting session brings an excitement and contentment that goes beyond description. And if a day passes without a brush being lifted, I feel guilty. Painting consumes me.
